EVOLVING THE WORKPLACE EXPERIENCE AT NIKE

CONTEXT & CHALLENGES

Nike is one of the most sought after employers in the world. Employees are fiercely committed to the brand and the success of the mission. Despite this, many felt employee engagement was on the decline, impacting the bottom line and the ability to attract the next generation of talent. Our team was tasked with assessing the current gaps in the employee experience and proposing a strategy to increase employee engagement.

APPROACH

Given a lack of data and existing tools, this became a boots-on-the-ground effort. Through 4 workshops, 15 focus groups and 22 1:1 interviews we went through exploration, categorization, ideation and testing. The biggest challenge was developing exercises to help us move through the amazing amount of qualitative data we were receiving.

RESULTS & DELIVERABLES

We kicked off a strategy that shifted a 20-year legacy of workplace habits and assumptions. Early results suggest that employees are more likely to feel invested, energized and more likely to recommend Nike as a great place to work. Additionally, the new strategy did a better job of tying efficiency gains to experiential gains and enabling a portfolio that is more responsive to organizational fluctuations.

1 // Assessment & prioritization of current challenges/gaps

2 // Insights outlining cultural & organizational drivers of challenges.

3 // Four pillared strategy to address prioritized challenges.

4 // Guiding principles to drive a considerate and relevant rollout
